Who’s holding you back?

While working with a client on mindset this week, I was reminded of this inspiring quote by Marianne Williamson.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be – brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so small
that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in us, it’s in everyone.

As we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

– Marianne Williamson, 1992

My client was holding herself back because she doubted her ability; we discovered that not only was she fantastic at what she did but is a great leader and someone who people look up to.  We all have doubts but sometimes having somebody just remind you of all that you have accomplished is enough to give you a little push to achieve so much more.

Below the quote is used in a scene from Coach Carter.
