Paarlauf run at Coventry Running Club

The members of Coventry Running Club have come on leaps and bounds in the last few of weeks with great improvement in all aspects of their running.

Thursday morning saw them take part in a Paarlauf session to put into practice all of the techniques they had learnt over the last three weeks. The Paarlauf, or pairs run, is a great session to work on technique. It involves one person in each pair running around one half of a circle whilst the second person walks across the diameter of the circle. On meeting, the second person runs around the other half of the circle whilst the first person walks the diameter effectively taking a rest.

A form of interval training, it works well with pairs of similar ability. Interval training builds up your ability to run distance because it works on the run/walk method of run for a bit, then walk, then run a bit more and so on. Paarlauf also works for more experienced runners as they can run a quicker pace for longer and jog rather than walk across the center.

The Coventry Running club group certainly picked up the method quickly and worked well together to make a really effective running session, with plenty of smiles and laughter along the way. Well done to everyone who took part.
