Fran’s Charity Bike Ride – The training begins!

So…my deposit has been paid, my new bike has been purchased and I am really doing this! It still sort of seems abit unreal but I have already been on 2 training rides and feeling positive so far.

Darren picked my bike up from Coventry Cycle Centre (who were brilliant in helping me make a decision on what to buy) on Friday so we went straight out that evening for a quick 10 miles.

Early Sunday morning saw the training begin in earnest with a lovely 18 mile route through Shilton, Bulkington, Withybrook and back. Unfortunately it did rain abit and the hardest rain came down whilst Darren and Si were fixing Ruth’s puncture – typical!

As soon as we got back the skies cleared and the sun was then out all afternoon but my motto is that if I have planned a training ride and the weather is not great I should still go as you never know it could get worse plus we could end up riding in the rain at the actual event.

I’m off tonight for another hour or so on the bike and again on Thursday then the next big ride will be this Saturday so I will post again after that 🙂

Here’s the route we took on Sunday:
